Pinkerton Park Bank Stabilization Planting

Plant native plants to help complete the Compact’s restoration of North Ewingville Creek at Pinkerton Park in Franklin! Volunteers will plant native flowering shrubs along the edge of the creek’s riparian buffer to stabilize the soil and keep pollutants out of the water.
Meet-up and Parking: Please use the parking lot on site and meet Compact staff near one of the lot-side gazebos.
North Ewingville Creek is a tributary of the Harpeth River, so pollution that enters the creek eventually ends up in the river. At this event, volunteers will add plants to North Ewingville Creek’s riparian buffer– a.k.a. the vegetative barrier that protects the water from pollution (like fertilizer, litter, or dog waste) that occurs on the land.
Various parts of the Harpeth River are threatened due to sediment, nutrients, low dissolved oxygen, pathogens, degraded habitats, and heavy metals. This project will prevent sediment pollution and improve habitats along the stream, benefiting water quality and the organisms that call this stream and the Harpeth River home.

This cooperative project has been funded, in part, by an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Nonpoint Source Program, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
