Best Practices for the Maintenance of Bioretention Areas and Permeable Pavement to Improve Water Quality

September 12, 2024 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs), like bioretention areas and permeable pavement, are vital tools for preserving the health of waterways in the wake of new development. However, if not properly maintained, these SCMs are no longer effective. In this presentation, you will learn how to properly maintain bioretention areas and permeable pavement. We’ll cover techniques to ensure proper maintenance, maintenance requirements to ensure compliance, and proper schedules for maintenance. This presentation is ideal for contractors, developers, and engineers as well as HOAs and other residents who maintain stormwater control measures. This presentation is an in-depth follow up to our earlier “Introduction to SCM Maintenance” presentation.

This presentation is led by Van Oldham with Evergreen Site Solutions. Van is a professional engineer and owner of Evergreen Site Solutions, which specializes in the ongoing inspection service of stormwater infrastructure to ensure high-functioning and compliant systems. Van has a background in Civil Engineering and received his degree at Tennessee Tech University.
