Browns Creek Kayak Cleanup

Join the Cumberland River Compact for a kayak cleanup of Browns Creek! Volunteers will start at a nearby boat ramp, enjoying scenic river recreation before removing litter from Browns Creek’s waters and banks. No kayak? No problem! The Cumberland River Compact will provide a limited number of kayaks and first-time kayakers are welcome. If you can bring your own kayak, canoe, paddleboard, or other small watercraft, please email volunteer@cumberlandrivercompact.org and we will reserve an extra volunteer slot for you.
Registration on VolunteerHub is required to participate. Litter grabbers, gloves, safety vests and trash bags will be provided. Please bring your own sunscreen, water, snacks and a friend! Volunteers of all abilities are welcome, no orientation or training necessary. This event has an age limit of 13+. All volunteers under 18 must be accompanied on the water by a parent/guardian and have a waiver signed by a legal guardian to participate. Anyone 13 and over can paddle their own boat at the discretion of the parent.
This cleanup is made possible thanks to funding from Metro Water Services and Metro Nashville, and their dedication to ensuring the Cumberland River and its tributaries are clean. Don’t forget – that’s where 3 million people get their drinking water!

Location: We will meet at the Riverview Pavilion at Shelby Park.
