Old Hickory Lake Kayak Cleanup
Join the Compact for a kayak cleanup on Old Hickory Lake! Old Hickory, which is actually an impounded section of the Cumberland River, is a popular recreation spot in summer – which unfortunately means its banks can accumulate trash and debris. At this event, volunteers will paddle along the shore and collect trash as they go. Sign up while spots last – your time volunteering will help us make Old Hickory Lake cleaner, safer, and more beautiful!
A limited number of kayaks and cleanup supplies will be provided. If you plan on bringing your own kayak, canoe, paddleboard, or other small watercraft, please email volunteer@cumberlandrivercompact.org so we don’t reserve one of ours for you. Please wear clothes you can get wet and dirty and shoes that protect your feet (no flip flops!) – and don’t forget your water bottles and sunscreen! All volunteers under 18 must be accompanied on the water by a parent/guardian. Anyone 13 and over can paddle their own boat at the discretion of the parent. Age limit is 13+. Registration on VolunteerHub is required.
