Navigating FEMA Floodplain Regulations in Sumner County

June 9 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION for development, engineering, and water industries JUNE 9 12:00 PM NAVIGATING FEMA FLOODPLAIN REGULATIONS IN SUMNER COUNTY

Streams often play a crucial part in shaping the layout of proposed developments through buffer requirements and FEMA regulations. Ensuring proper adherence can take time and may delay projects while FEMA approval for floodplain or floodway work is obtained. This session will provide an overview of the FEMA regulatory process and the floodplain requirements in Sumner County. Participants will learn how to successfully navigate the no-rise certificate, Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR), and Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) submittals. Case studies will be used to provide real-world applications and examples.

The presentation will be led by Michael Underwood, an Engineer with KCI Technologies, who has 14 years of experience in the water world and has completed several successful flood studies for developers.

This presentation is part of the Cumberland River Compact’s professional education training series supported by the stormwater departments of Gallatin, Hendersonville, Goodlettsville, and Sumner County. This series promotes best practices and innovative approaches in stormwater. The presentation is ideal for contractors, developers, stormwater professionals, and engineers. Professional development hour (PDH) certificates are available for all attendees.
