Environmental Science for MNPS: Gearing Up for Quarter Two

October 7, 2025
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE FOR MPS: GEARING UP FOR QUARTER TWO OCTOBER 7, 2025 SESSION 1: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM SESSION 2: 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Can you believe you’re already a quarter of the way through the school year? Let’s keep the momentum going into quarter two. In this workshop, you will join environmental science teachers from across MNPS to explore teaching strategies, review instructional materials, and participate in immersive learning about topics you’ll need for the upcoming quarter. Plus, there will be ample time to reflect on the first quarter and to share peer feedback on how curriculum implementation is working in your classroom.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Reflect on your classroom instruction so far.
  • Give and receive feedback from peers.
  • Participate in an immersive learning experience about a local environmental phenomenon on mining, ecological succession, and forest ecosystems that you can use in quarter two.
  • Practice activities from your McGraw-Hill curriculum and the Compact that support exploration of the phenomenon.
  • Start planning your quarter two learning in collaboration with your teacher peers.

Breakfast or lunch, coffee, and snacks will be provided.

This workshop is exclusively for environmental science teachers with Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS).

Registration is required through MNPS’s PowerSchool. There will be two sessions: one from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and another from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Both sessions will cover the same material; please choose the one that is most convenient for you. You must receive approval from your administrator to attend.
