Kaela Walton-Sather

Working Lands Division Manager

Kaela Walton-Sather is the Working Lands Division Manager at the Cumberland River Compact. In her role, she oversees the mine land reforestation program, the River Friendly Farms program, and conservation initiatives with farmers. Kaela came to the Compact by way of Alberta, Canada, where she earned a BS in biology from the University of Alberta and studied biological sciences at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology with a renewable resources specialization. Kaela’s background is in applied research, and she has worked on projects to optimize reforestation techniques, phytoremediation, and reclamation of mining-related soils. She is passionate about developing better practices for environmental stewardship and ecological restoration. When she is not working, Kaela is spending time outside, enjoying the live music scene in Nashville, and creating nature-inspired art.
