Cooper Breeden

Land Conservation Program Manager

Cooper Breeden is the Land Conservation Program Manager at the Cumberland River Compact. In his role, Cooper manages the land trust program which entails stewarding existing conservation easements and fee properties, leading the expansion of the Compact’s land holdings, and ensuring all land trust activities are in accordance with the relevant best practices and regulatory standards. Cooper is a botanist with over a decade of experience in biodiversity conservation. He received his MS in Biology from Austin Peay State University and spent many years working to save rare plant species from extinction throughout Tennessee and neighboring states. Cooper enjoys botanizing in the midsouth’s many unique natural areas, and occasionally leads guided plant hikes for Tennessee Native Plant Society or other interested groups. When he’s not hunched over a sedge with a hand lens in the wilds, he’s with his wife and two little kids gardening, poking bugs, chasing chickens, or rolling around in the grass.
