PARK(ing) Day Block Party 2025
The Cumberland River Compact will have a table at Park(ing) Day 2025, hosted by the Civic Design Center, to showcase our Depave initiative. Depaving transforms unnecessary pavement into thriving green spaces that protect water quality and enhance communities.
Park(ing) Day is a worldwide event where parking spaces are temporarily turned into mini parks, sparking conversations about how our cities can use public space more sustainably. In Nashville, it’s a chance to see what’s possible when we think beyond asphalt and design with people and the environment in mind. At the Compact’s “parklet”, visitors will learn how depaving reclaims paved areas such as old parking lots and replaces them with native trees, Pocket Prairies, and other absorbent landscapes. These projects reduce stormwater runoff, filter pollution before it reaches streams, improve habitat for pollinators, and make neighborhoods cooler and more inviting.
Plus: the Compact is looking for more Depave sites, especially in North Nashville!
