Water Quality in the Stones River Watershed

There are 1,018 miles of streams and rivers in the Stones River Watershed. Within the watershed, the State of Tennessee reports that 209 miles are impaired. The most common impairments are sediment, alteration of streamside vegetation, bacteria, and nutrients. The most common sources of impairment are urban stormwater runoff, pasture grazing, and land development.
