The Compact celebrates springtime by putting on a series of waterway cleanups throughout the month of April, which we now refer to as Earth Month. Funding from Tennessee Valley Authority allows us to partner with various cities in Middle Tennessee to complete large spring litter cleanups. The cleanups in 2018 engaged more than 250 volunteers and removed 14,380 lbs of trash and 128 tires from our waterways. 2018 cleanups took place in Clarksville, Gallatin, Cane Hollow at Center Hill Lake, and Long Hunter State Park at Percy Priest Lake. In addition to the cleanup efforts, volunteers received litter prevention education from Compact staff as well as a volunteer T-shirt.
