Understanding the geology of a place takes time because geological phenomena are not readily observable at all scales. In this lesson, students will explore rock types in Tennessee ecoregions. Using their knowledge of the rock cycle, students will provide explanations about how present geology is informed by the past and develop predictions about how the current geology of Tennessee could change in the future.
The lesson was originally written for 8th grade but with modification it could work for environmental science. Interdisciplinary with ELA.
