Models to Stories

Grade levels: Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th

Topics: Ecosystems and Biodiversity

Languages: English, Spanish

Interdisciplinary: Yes

Disciplinary Core Idea
LS2:  Ecosystems: Interactions, Energy, and Dynamics

Scientists and writers frequently tackle really big questions. These questions could be about what’s around us, how we feel, why we live where we do, what kinds of relationships we have, etc. These explorations invite a great deal of energy and creativity in the learning process. For this activity, we’ll use the skill of modeling to help us understand what kinds of relationships are around us and then articulate what we observe by creating a story to deepen our understanding of these relationships.

Interdisciplinary with ELA.

This lesson was originally written for 2nd grade. With modification, it could apply to Kindergarten and 4th grade standards.
