Let’s Talk about Land Cover

Grade levels: 2nd, 4th

Topics: Earth Systems

Languages: English, Spanish

Interdisciplinary: No

Disciplinary Core Idea
ESS2: Earth's Systems

In this synchronous activity, learners will identify different land cover types by observing aerial images of areas near their schools (or the given examples provided). Students will then be encouraged to asynchronously, and firsthand, visit places with land cover types, collect observations about the different land cover types, and then compare observations from both data sources.

This lesson was originally written for 2nd grade. With modification, it could work for 4th grade standards.
