Disciplinary Core Idea

Learn about being an aquatic biologist with Annie Goodhue! Annie spent over 20 years of her career as an aquatic biologist with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. In this video, students will learn about the skills and education needed to be an aquatic biologist and what a typical day for an aquatic biologist looks like.

An aquatic biologist is just one of many types of scientific careers. In the linked pre and post activities, students will watch the career spotlight and then do research to learn about the other types of scientific careers that exist. This activity will ask students to broaden their definition of what a “scientist” is.
