River Talks: Streamside Salamanders in Sumner County
February 8 @ 9:30 AM - 10:30 AMFree
Streamside salamanders are a state endangered amphibian found in streams across Middle Tennessee. The elusive animal relies on small streams with limestone bedrock for habitat and to breed. Streamside salamanders are found in stream habitats around Sumner County, and it is important to keep waterways healthy so their populations can continue to survive. In this presentation, you will explore a local stream alongside two streamside salamander experts: David Withers with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and Anna Humphrey from Tennessee State University. You will learn about these fascinating critters, how to protect them, and, hopefully, have the chance to spot a few up close!
