Pinkerton Park Stream Cleanup

March 30 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Join your community and the Cumberland River Compact for a stream cleanup of The Harpeth River at Pinkerton Park in Franklin! The Harpeth River runs along the park perimeter so we’re going to give it the love it deserves! The Harpeth River flows through the heart of downtown Franklin, one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. According to American Rivers, the river and its tributaries are home to more than 50 species of fish and 30 species of mussels, making it an incredibly biodiverse body of water. Several of these species are classified by Tennessee as rare and in need of management and two mussel species are protected under the Endangered Species Act.

The Harpeth River is a tributary of the Cumberland River and the health of this waterway means a lot to us at The Compact! We’re thrilled to partner with the City of Franklin to complete this all-ages, family-friendly volunteer opportunity. At this cleanup, you will learn a little about the Harpeth River and participate in a cleanup of trash and debris that tends to accumulate due to the Harpeth’s infamous flood events. The Cumberland River Compact will provide all supplies including gloves, trash bags, and litter grabbers. Grab a friend or family member and join in for an afternoon of important stewardship! Whether you’re a first time volunteer or veteran volunteer, we welcome all! Registration is required.
