Nashville Youth Climate Summit

The Cumberland River Compact in partnership with the Mayor’s Youth Council presents the first-ever Nashville Youth Climate Summit! The Summit is a participant-driven educational conference coordinated by and for youth to create an opportunity for learning, dialogue, and action on climate change. The Nashville Youth Climate Summit will cover all things climate change – from the basics of climate science to climate equity and justice to local solutions.
High school youth who live in Nashville are encouraged to register, with the goal of 5 students representing every high school in Nashville.
Kickoff:
Dr. Jonathan Gilligan from Vanderbilt University will kick-off the day with “Climate Change 101” covering:
- Climate science basics
- Climate change
- Local and global impacts
Breakout Sessions:
- Climate Justice and Equity
- Climate Change in the Media
- 4 Roles of Social Activism
Afternoon “Table Talks”:
- Building a green city
- Sustainable transportation
- Political advocacy and organization
- Art and activism
- And more!
The day will end with neighborhood groups developing a climate action plan!
