Browns Creek Walk & Talk

Join the Cumberland River Compact as we blend stewardship and education for a unique, hands-on walk & talk experience along Browns Creek at GEODIS Park!
Great environmental stewardship is not just about hard work, but also about making community connections to nature. At this event, you’ll learn how people have shaped the land and water of Browns Creek in and around the Nashville Fairgrounds. You’ll also hear about the ecology of the creek and how green infrastructure at GEODIS Park protects it.
Participants can also expect to enjoy:
- A meet-and-greet with live creek critters from Browns Creek, whose presence is a scientific indicator of stream health
- A virtual reality experience that drops you straight into the action of some of the Cumberland River Compact’s biggest restoration projects
The discussion will be simple and open-ended—no science background is needed to enjoy this event.
By the end of the morning, you will have made a measurable difference by removing trash from Brown’s Creek– plus you’ll have a deeper understanding of how to “read” a landscape through a scientist’s eyes and notice the connections between land, water, and people.
Meet-up and Parking: Please park in GEODIS Park LOT 5, which is located near the Fair Park Dog Park off Craighead Street. Once parked, check in with Cumberland River Compact staff near the covered pavilion next to the parking lot.
