Annual Member Meeting and Community Conversation
March 30, 2021 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Join the Cumberland River Compact for a presentation and community conversation on water as a human right. In 2010, the human right to water was officially recognized by the UN General Assembly and Human Rights Council and in 2015 the right to hygienic sanitation services was added. According to the UN, the right to water entitles everyone to have access to sufficient, safe, acceptable, physically accessible, and affordable water for personal and domestic use. In this presentation, Sheyda Esnaashari with River Network‘s Drinking Water Program will share how the human right to water informs drinking water policy and programs across the United States.
